Description of the event

Adult Learner Essay Initiative- The Literacy Coalition and the School District's Adult & Community Education Department partner on this initiative. Adult learners in Palm Beach County are invited to submit an essay. The students can write on the choice of the following topics: "Why I returned to school," "A memory with my family," "A tradition that matters to me," or "Original poetry." Volunteers review the essays and provide feedback. The students are celebrated at a reception in November where selected students read their essays to the audience.

Duties of the volunteers

The Literacy Coalition will bring hard copies of the essays to the volunteer shift. Community volunteers read the essays and offer written feedback to the students.
